Blog? Write a blog? Sure sounds easy. A couple of paragraphs that have something to do with food. Get people thinking about food and some of the intricacies of where our food is grown and how. Who grows it and how does it get to our dinner plates? What energy inputs are required to feed us? Where are the weak links in the supply chain? How come the grocery stores have about a one day supply of food on hand? What foods or additives cause us to eat more and still feel hungry? Where have all the farmers gone?
Which tastes better, a vine ripened tomato you pick in your own garden with a salt shaker in hand or one that is engineered to have a real thick skin, and picked green, by a machine and loaded into a trailer truck, packaged and shipped, and then exposed to ethylene gas to cause it to ripen?
At 59 years and 7 month old am I really younger than the average American farmer?
What does local or organic, or sustainable, or free range or natural mean and how do we know what we are eating? Who do we believe and trust? Who’s in charge?
I just started writing about four distinct blog topics and found my head spinning so that I could not coherently finish one of them.
Food. There’s a lot to talk about and I will throw out some of my thoughts and hopefully get some meaningful, enlightening conversations going.
But not today. I’ve got to get the kids off the school bus in a few minutes and I know they’ll be starving!

You are funny….So, what happened to the rest of your “blogging”…? Camp, busy summer, vacations, other priorities? Come back and entertain, make us think, ask questions, change the way we eat, consume energy and space in the universe…etc. etc.
